The rhinoceros continues to be in danger from poachers. They want its horn, which in certain countries is regarded as an aphrodisiac. (It isn't). The amount of poaching has become seriously out of hand, and nowadays a rhino is killed on average every eight hours in South Africa. I feel the only way now to stop the extinction of the rhino is by captive breeding.
Elephants are in danger also. I have mentioned the threat ivory poachers are causing before in this blog. Appalling numbers of these noble animals are being killed. Don't buy ivory.
