2012: While hiking to a site for target practice in Thurston
County, Washington, a father, his two sons, and two juvenile friends see a "massive"
figure rise from a blackberry patch on the far side of a hayfield. It had "big
shoulders long arms and wide body all covered in brown hair. The hair on it
head looked like it went to its shoulders." They follow the creature but
it eludes them. Judging from the 6-foot height of one youth, they estimate the
thing stood about 8 feet 6 inches tall. After it lost them, they heard five or
six loud wood-knocking sounds from the forest nearby.
