On This Day in Weird, December 21...
1965: While driving at night near Shearwater Lake, near
Warminster, Wiltshire, England, a husband and wife see a "small
figure" dash from a roadside hedge and "throw himself" under the
wheels of their car. Both feel the vehicle pass over a solid object. They stop
and exit, the woman vomiting, while her husband searches the highway in vain
for ten minutes. Afterward, they described the vanished thing as a humanoid of
indeterminate sex, "long-haired and wearing gray jeans or tight-fitting
trousers." No trace of it remains.
