1892: Montana's Anaconda Standard newspaper reports
that an unnamed witness, described in print as "a wild-eyed
individual," claims to have seen a hairy "varmint" in the
mountains nearby. Such descriptions are applied to a wide range of creatures in
the 19th century, but several modern-day authors list this as a Bigfoot
sighting.
