COTTINGLEY FAIRIES

The Cottingley Fairies were a famous hoax in the form of photographs of alleged fairy beings  produced in 1917.  The girls waited until they were old ladies to admit they were a hoax, but one of them said one photograph was genuine.

What many people may not know is that the girls maintained they had really seen fairies and had only faked the photograph to make people believe them.

This was to some extent backed up by a local person who claimed to have seen fairies in Cottingley Glen.  This was a woodsman named Ronnie Bennett.

They were three in number.  He estimated their height was 10".  They put him in mind of Elves.

If you're interested in sightings of Elves, Fairies and the like, my book on the subject is available from Amazon and other outlets.  It contains many accounts of alleged fairy sightings and details of other such creatures.  How such creatures could exist and where they fit into the modern worldview is also treated.
