OLDEST KNOWN BIRD

A discovery in China, announced this month, is the oldest known member of the clade to which all birds belong.  Scientists M. Wang and Z. Zhou have discovered the fossils of two specimens.  It has been named  Archaeomithura meenmanne and it was discovered in Hebei Province.
