FIRST U.S. UFO?

Was this the first UFO ever observed in the United States?  It was seen in 1880 at Lamy(New Mexico).  It was shaped like a fish with a device that sounds a little like a propeller on the front.  It seems to have been near enough to the ground for the eight or ten witnesses to hear the conversation of the beings on board.  Unfortunately, their language was quite unintelligible.

AS UFO was reported from Venezuela in the same year.
