1852: Crewmen aboard the whaler Monongahela sight a
sea-serpent in latitude 3° 10'S and longitude 131° 50'W. They describe it as
longer than their 100-foot ship, 50 feet in diameter, with a 10-foot head
boasting 94 curved teeth in each jaw.
