IS THIS A MONSTER?

No, it isn't.  It is, in fact, vegetation twisted together.  However, it is the sort of thing that can deceive the observer all too easily, especially if he is on the lookout for cryptids.  The cryptid hunter must always take care not to be deceived by such phenomena.
