CREATURE ON GARAGE ROOF

In San Antonio, Texas, the following incident, for which I do not have a date, is said to have occurred.  F. Ramirez, perhaps after dark - my source is not clear on this - happened to glance at his garage roof.  To his amazement, he saw it was occupied by a strange creature.  Its face was in some ways reminiscent of a human's, but it was elongated and extended into a long beak.  The creature was winged.  The wings seem to have resembled a cloak.  The creature took off.  Ramirez heard the wings flapping, so the creature was not merely gliding along.

What was this?  Despite its allegedly humanoid features, my money is on a bird.  However, I have certain reservations.  If it was a bird, surely Ramirez would have realized this?  Perhaps not, if it was dark.  If he was mistaken regarding this, everything else about the creature would indicate a bird.
