ONE-LEGGED SOCCER

This sounds like the ultimate Fortean game.  One has visions of a team of players, one leg apiece, hopping onto a pitch and, each time someone kicks the ball, he falls over.  However, strange as it may seem, one-legged soccer has indeed taken off.  After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, there were a great many amputees who had a penchant for playing soccer and so they formed one legged teams and the game took off in the streets of the ruined cities.  On one occasion, a one-legged team visited Texas.

The game is played in Sierra Leone as well.

Sometimes the player has an artificial leg as well as a real one, but not always.  Some of them manage to support themselves on a set of crutches.

Strange what human endeavor can accomplish.
