ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, June 17...

1900: Martin Bormann, future private secretary to Adolf Hitler, born in Wegeleben, Germany. He allegedly dies in Berlin on May 2, 1945, but official "identification" of multiple Bormann skulls bolsters rumors of his escape to South America. Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, at a 1967 press conference, cites "strong evidence" of Bormann's survival.

1980: Farm worker Patrick Poling sees a seven-foot-tall hairy biped crossing a cornfield in Union County, Ohio.
