1394: Zen teacher Ekiho, head of the Engaku-ji temple in Kamakura, Japan, performs an exorcism to rid the temple of an old badger said to be adept at bewitching passers-by.




1897: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that witnesses Adam Gardner and Ed Swinehart have seen a hairy bipedal creature near sailor, Indiana.



1939: Batman makes his first appearance in Detective Comics #27 as "the Bat-Man."
