A MODERN DRAGON?

Most of us encountered dragons in the fairytales of our youth and perhaps continue to encounter them in fantasy literature.  What may surprise you, gentle reader, is that people report dragons or at least draconic beasts even today.

Linda S. Godfrey, for example, tells us of one such sighting in Oconto Falls (Wisconsin) in 2007.  A group of people after nightfall looked skywards to see a creature with a long neck, scales, leathery wings and a poined head, tan and white in color.  The size was estimated as perhaps larger than an airplane, but size can be somewhat difficult to measure, especially if it's in the distance or flying overhead.  There was a second sighting somewhat later on.

There have been various reports of sightings of creatures like pterosaurs in modern times and Miss Godfrey speculates that it might be one of these.  Such sightings are largely dismissed by mainstream zoologists, but such zoologists have dismissed other sightings in days gone by, only to have the creature's existence verified - for example, the now well-known Komodo dragon.  We might also ask if it could have been a peculiarly decorated aircraft or a cloud formation, but the evidence seems to render these unlikely.  What I can say with certainty is that it is a mystery.
