ON THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, April 4....

1948: Future best-selling author Dan Simmons is born in Peoria, Illinois. His many macabre novels include The Abominable, featuring a search for missing climbers and the yeti on Mount Everest.

1968: A sniper's bullet kills Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis, Tennessee. Despite a distinctly peculiar guilty plea from "lone assassin" James Earl Ray, evidence of conspiracy proliferates, spawning several books on the case...including one by Yours Truly.
