2001: Famed Bigfoot researcher and pro-kill advocate René
Dahinden dies from prostate cancer in British Columbia, at age at age 70.
Rumors persist that Dahinden inspired the character portrayed by Don Ameche in Harry
and the Hendersons. Colleague Christopher Murphy recalls a statement from
Dahinden, shortly before his death: "You know, I've spent over 40 years
[seeking Bigfoot] and I didn't find it. I guess that's got to say
something."
