1918: The collier USS Cyclops sails from Barbados en route to Baltimore, Maryland, vanishing in the "Bermuda Triangle" with 309 crew and passengers.

1954: Mark Chorvinsky, stage magician and publisher of Strange Magazine, chief proponent of the theory that Hollywood makeup master John Chambers made a Bigfoot costume for Roger Patterson in 1967, born in Philadelphia, Pa.

2011: Dr. M. Lloyd Sipe, veterinarian and Bigfoot researcher, dies in Beaverton, Oregon, at age 87.
