1863: Future horror/fantasy author Arthur Machen ("The Great God Pan," "The Red Hand," etc.) born at Caerleon, Wales.

1959: Cinematic release of The Giant Behemoth, wherein radioactive waste dumped at sea revives a dormant dinosaur with dire consequences for the British countryside.

2008: A hand-sized piece of ice crashes through the roof of a private home in Gastonia, North Carolina. Authorities blame an aircraft passing overhead.
