2013: Wallace George Lowe, famed New Zealand mountaineer and
early Yeti hunter, dies at a nursing home in Ripley, Derbyshire, at age 89. In
1960, Lowe joined the Silver Hut Physiological Expedition of Mt. Everest and
environs, participating in its "Yeti Expedition" to Rowaling, Nepal.
2013: Warren Thompson, an early member of California's
Bigfoot-hunting Bay Area Group, dies on the same day as Lowe, in Redwood City,
following a long battle against Alzheimer's disease.
