On This Day in Weird, March 18...
1921: Eric Frank "Doc" Searle born at Staines,
Middlesex. From 1969 to 1983 he lived at Foyers, on Loch Ness, producing some
of the most remarkable "Nessie" photos on record. Critics suspected
an ongoing fraud, supported at least in part by a 1976 front-page article in
the Scottish Highland News, suggesting that one of his photos was taken
from a postcard depicting an Apatosaurus.
