ROAR!

If you ever go on vacation to Mali (which, as every schoolboy knows, is in West Africa), you may care to visit the city of Timbuktu, which many think is a mythical place, but it isn't.  Here too live the Dogon, made famous by Robert Temple's book The Sirius Mystery.  But the natives will warn you about something else: where other countries have werewolves, Mali has were-lions.  However, there are ways you can tell if someone is a werelion.  First of all, a werelion will speak with a nasal voice.  Secondly, he will have a smell of carrion about him.  Actually, I think I have met several people to whom these criteria apply, without going to Mali at all.  If threatened by a were-lion, you need copper bullets to kill him.  However, I don't suppose they'll let you take copper bullets on the plane to Mali.

In Sudan, on the other hand, it is said that certain beautiful young women are the offspring of a mating between human and lion.  Sounds a bit dangerous to me.  If you marry one of these women, she may end up eating you, so don't say you haven't been warned.
