On This St. Valentine's Day in Weird...

1885: Several witnesses report a Bigfoot sighting at Locust Grove, Illinois (Franklin County).

1900: Three students from Appleyard College, a girls' private school, disappear with their math teacher during a picnic at Hanging Rock near Woodend, Victoria, Australia. No trace of the four has yet been discovered.

1926: Birth of Bigfoot hunter Roger Patterson.

1975: Witness Antoine Severin reports an afternoon sighting of two humanoid figures three to four feet tall, "poking the ground" around a domed disc with porthole windows at Petite-He, Reunion, France.

2002: Dr. Grover Sanders Krantz—anthropologist, Bigfoot researcher, and ardent defender of the alleged Sasquatch film made by Roger Patterson in 1967—dies from pancreatic cancer in Port Angeles, Wash.
