THIS DAY IN WEIRD

On This Day in Weird, February 28...

1934: The 25-foot Cherbourg Carcass washes ashore at Querqueville, France. At length, Dr. Georges Petit of the Paris Museum determines it to be a decomposed basking shark.

1963: Pilots Alden Hoover and Lennart Strand spot a 10-foot-tall "half bear, half gorilla" walking on its hind legs near Sonora, California. Their aerial photos prove too blurry for interpretation.

2010: An unnamed youth reports a Bigfoot sighting at Dixon, Illinois.
